Softer Side of Celtic Concert with Jeff Snow
Granite & Quarry Rooms
The Softer Side of Celtic combines the music, stories and a wee bit of history from Scotland, Ireland and England  The audience is encouraged to participate! There will be singing, laughing, clapping and perhaps a bit of foot stomping. Questions and input from the audience are encouraged and become part of the event. This 90-minute concert includes music on the guitar, bouzouki and autoharp. Jeff Snow grew up as the son of a drummer in a Bagpipe band and  in a home where older Celtic songs were the everyday sounds and his love of the genre has deepened over the years, performing all over the Northeast.

Flower Box Arrangement Workshop with Sarah DeSantes
Granite & Quarry Rooms
Sarah DeSantes will lead a workshop on creating fresh flower box centerpieces which would be a perfect complement to any Easter table.

Poetry Reading with Jason Tandon
Granite Room
Jason Tandon is the author of five books of poetry, including This Far North, The Actual WorldQuality of Life, and Give over the Heckler and Everyone Gets Hurt, winner  of the St. Lawrence Book Award from Black Lawrence Press. His poems have appeared in Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, The Southern Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, Beloit Poetry Journal, and Barrow Street, among others. He earned his B.A. and M.A. from Middlebury College, and his M.F.A. from the University of New Hampshire. Since 2008, he has taught in the Arts and Sciences Writing Program at Boston University.

How to Kill Your Lawn with Mark Richardson

According to NASA, in the United States more surface area is covered by lawn than by any other single irrigated crop. Lawns are resource-heavy, requiring irrigation, fertilizer, and pesticides to thrive in our climate. Learn how to replace your lawn with beautiful and environmentally friendly native plant gardens. Mark Richardson is Director of Horticulture for New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill in Boylston, Massachusetts. He leads a team of horticulture staff and oversees a living plant collection that spans sixteen distinct garden spaces, two conservatories, and over 100 acres of surrounding woodlands and wetlands. He has a passion for ecological horticulture and native plants, and he lectures on various topics including “How to Kill Your Lawn.” He is co-author of the book Native Plants for New England Gardens (Globe Pequot, 2018).

Share the Plastic Circle: Family Hula-Hoopalooza
Granite & Quarry Rooms
Join Kat from Wildkats Hoops for a hula hoop program for ages 5 and older. Bring the whole family for a fun program that gets everyone moving, hooping, and smiling. Kat's been leading groups at camps, extended day programs and libraries for the past ten years. She encourages all participants and guides really agile participants to try some cool tricks with the hoops. Moms, Dads, caregivers, kids all welcome! Sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Town Library.

Learn how the funds donated and raised by the Friends are being allocated and then stay for a special very guest at 7p.m., author Mike Tougias.
 
Author Mike Tougias, 7 p.m.
Local author Mike Tougias will give a short talk about his latest book The Power of Positive Fishing followed by his presentation on Extreme Survival: Lessons from Those Who Triumphed Against All Odds. Michael J. Tougias is a New York Times bestselling author and co-author of 30 books for adults and 7 for children and young adults including The Finest Hours (adapted as a Disney motion picture in 2016)  Fatal Forecast, Overboard and King Philip's War.

Johnny Cash - Songs & Stories with Matt York
Granite & Quarry Rooms
Longtime New England musician/author Matt York will perform the songs of Johnny Cash and tell stories about Cash's career spanning from the 1950's to his passing in 2003. He'll discuss Cash's emergence as a groundbreaking artist in the 1950's, his marriage to June Carter and many of his other career highlights. In both 2022 and 2023, York was nominated for the Boston Music Award for Best Country Artist and his album Gently Used was named one of Worcester Magazine's best albums of 2022. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Milford Local Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

The Beatles 1964 with Steve Minichiello
Writer and Emmy-award winning producer Steve Minichiello discusses the pivotal year for this musical and cultural phenomenon. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Town Library.
